I’ve noticed that I have been stuttering a lot, especially when I am really excited. In many cases, I would get overly excited about something and my sentences would make no sense. Or, I would pause a lot (or say "like" many times) in the middle of a sentence because I either forgot what i was saying or I don’t even know what I am saying. I just blank out
So what do you guys think?
There is no "cure" for stuttering, at least not for stutterers who stutter because of genetics. If you haven’t always stuttered, you may need to destress or get more rest. Find out more at www.stutteringhelp.org
Stammering or stuttering can be genetic. There is no known "cure" but there are ways you can learn to speak better so you don’t stutter as often. Check out www.stutteringhelp.org and http://stammeringcentre.org. The Stuttering Foundation of America’s book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" is what helped our family the most. They have other good books and videos; some are available online, others are in their estore. Meet others who stutter here http://groups.myspace.com/stutteringfoundation.
I used to have mild stuttering for a while, but recently it has become more intense. I was wondering if there was any way that I could help myself to stop stuttering without any therapist (no help at all) or any special devices (too expensive and just not into it). Please help, it really ruins my life.
well, i don’t know how to stop it, but I have read or seen on news shows that while singing people usually don’t stutter. Maybe if you learn to put some sort of rhythm to your words that may help. There was something else I saw, but I am not sure that I remember it correctly and not fully…something to with hearing; it seems like they had ear plugs in or something like that. Try doing a search for that and see what you come up with…wish i could remember more, but i know it was helping the boy who was doing it. It was something in his ear…when he took it out he would stutter again, but put it back and it would stop. It really was amazing. Good Luck

"Hi"…well first of all it’s commendable that you want to move here as we have a great country here in Canada and in fact have lots and lots of Canadians of Irish heritage and ancestry !
Matter of fact we even get lots of Irish tourists !
I’m not sure where to start as I deem your question to be sincere so rather than send you to a site that might prove difficult to understand as most Government Immigration sites are I’ll try and explain it in simple terms !
However , Ill give you this site which you can go through though ……make it a "favourite" on your PC and take your time going through it…weeks or months if need be , and from there you can link to other sites and learn more ..remember a good military man maps out his operation and campaign and plan of attack first and prepares himself …….

Lets start with the fact that Canada does not have have Marines per se , we have a excellent and brave Tri services Military force which you may consider joining but that would be once you have immigrated here !
I suppose the main problem is your age in that you are 13 so what I would recommend is that you channel your energies into schooling or at least learning a good trade for the next 6 to 7 years…remember Rome wasn’t built in a day ! *lol*
Once you can show Canadian Immigration that you have something to offer aside from your ambition then they would consider you for approval but you would need either a good skill or a university diploma…so a trade may be the answer !
It takes sometimes almost 5 years to be accepted so start working on this endeavour now by improving your credentials !
Good luck and I admire your resolve and we would love to have you and hopefully a "Welcome to Canada" in the not too far future !
Glad to help and all the best young Sir ! *S* (Michael C…)

EDIT…sorry have to say this fellow colleagues…but this is a 13 year old young Lad with a dream..just 13…and rather than playing video games or hanging out at a Mall he’s asked a question and I thought he made his presentation rather well…so lets be a little more inderstanding….not many 13 year olds would even ask and I think we could be a tad more gentle ! *S*
In actuality his question is a refreshing change from some if the ones I’ve seen from his age group !
I’ve been stuttering/stammering since I was really young. It just got worse and I dont know how to control it. Any tips? And what causes it?
Hi Stef,
I know how embarrassing it can be. I don’t suffer from it as I don’t do it often but when I do it’s at the most stressful points in my life. When I’m frustrated and need to get what I’m trying to say OUT!!
Like if I get pulled over by a cop I sound guilty rather than afflicted.
I was told to say it in your head first and it helped. If I try to speak (and I know everyone out there does) off the cuff I stutter. But if I think of it carefully before hand I can avoid it.
